Emergency Management Director
CALL 211 TO REPORT DAMAGE / POTABLE WATER AVAILABLE IN GLOVER
July 19, 2020 Glover Residents;
The last 10 days or so have been a trying time for some of our residents. The flooding on July 10th along the Barton River in Glover Village as well as other locations in town has turned the everyday lives of some of our residents upside down.
FEMA ASSISTANCE:
At the Thursday, July 13th selectboard meeting I was appointed Emergency Management Director for the Town of Glover. This past Monday was spent walking through Glover Village with representatives from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), the US Small Business Administration, and Vermont Emergency Management. As many have found out thus far, Orleans County has NOT been declared eligible for INDIVIDUAL assistance from FEMA. The purpose of the tour with those agencies was to assess the overall damage so that Orleans County CAN be added to the list of six other counties where individuals will be eligible for help from FEMA. To that extent, it is IMPERATIVE that ANYONE with damage, call 211 to report that. Vermont 211 is acting as the repository for reporting damage. The more reports to 211 from those suffering damage will assist in providing the required documentation to get Orleans County declared eligible for INDIVIDUAL assistance from FEMA. I can’t stress enough: PLEASE CALL 211 TO REPORT ANY DAMAGE, NO MATTER HOW MINIMAL YOU THINK IT MAY BE! Also, any damage outside of Glover Village should be reported to 211 as well; it is not just Village residents who should report damage. At this time we are unsure of if/when a declaration will come.
DRINKING WATER SAFETY:

The above link outlines drinking water safety after a flood for private drinking water sources such as springs and wells. The Town of Glover has received a supply of bottled drinking water that is available for distribution for those that have either lost their source of potable water or their water remains untested/unsafe to drink. Please contact the town clerk’s office at (802) 525-6227 or contact the town Emergency Management Director at (802) 673-4030 for more information on how to obtain drinking water.
As we progress with recovery efforts, we will post updates to the Town of Glover Facebook page and the town website.
Sincerely
Philip Brooks, Emergency Management Director
Town of Glover
